Meet the Team
At River Landing Dentistry, we want our workplace to be our second family, a place where we enjoy spending our days accomplishing shared goals. It’s one of the underlying reasons Dr. Zechmann opened River Landing Dentistry. When we support each other, we ultimately better support our patients.
Dr. Rebeca Zechmann
After moving to Daniel Island, I wanted to practice close to my home. I opened River Landing Dentistry with the goal in mind to build a team committed to each other and our patients. Through that commitment we can provide our highest quality dentistry to the community.
I offer comprehensive dental services, including family, cosmetic, and advanced services. Furthermore, I have special interests in temporomandibular joint disorder (commonly known as TMJ or TMD), occlusion – based dentistry, dental sleep medicine, and implantology. This means that I have a special passion for the way our teeth come together and how that affects our muscles, joints and teeth as a system. I also focus on treating sleep breathing disorders with dental appliances, and I hold the Qualified Dentist Designation from the AADSM. I feel that dental sleep medicine and treating TMD go hand-in-hand, and knowledge of one allows for better treatment of the other. I also have a passion for implantology and surgery. I place and restore implants using the latest technology including, 3D-imaging, oral scanners, 3-D printing and PRP/PRF. If you see me either as general dentistry patient or a referral, it is my goal to make you feel like you have been heard and to feel that we are a team moving towards a common goal of a healthy dentition.
I was raised in North Carolina, and I graduated high school from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. I received my B.A. in Biology and Spanish and my M.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from The Johns Hopkins University. I received my D.D.S. from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore. After attending Maryland, I completed a General Practice Residency at the Baltimore VA Hospital. While at the University of Maryland, I spent many volunteer hours with the Hispanic Dental Association and other organizations, receiving the Dean’s Award for Community Service. I also volunteered with Somos Amigos Medical Missions in the Dominican Republic. I am the recipient of the ADA Foundation’s minority dental student scholarship and the dental school’s prestigious Katherine Toomey Award given to one student for dedication to the school and the profession. While in dental school, I was a member of the GPD Prosthodontic Honor Society, the Gorgas Odontological Honor Society, and graduated with membership in the prestigious national dental honor society OKU. Following residency, I worked in Maryland in private practice until moving to Daniel Island.
I met my husband, Mike, while at Johns Hopkins University, playing tennis. We have two daughters, Kate and Madeline. When I do get free time, I enjoy Latin dancing, tennis, cooking, gardening, playing 4-person card games and practicing up on my Spanish. Most importantly, I love spending time with my family.
Dr. Ellen Paulisick
I am long-time friend and colleague of Dr. Zechmann. I graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore and completed a general practice residency at the Baltimore VA Medical Center the same years as Dr. Zechmann. I have spent the last eight years in private practice in Maryland and have recently moved to Charleston.
I am a passionate leader in my community and in service to others. While in dental school, I served as the national student representative for the American Association of Women Dentists. I am the recipient of the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship for community service, and I ran health-based education programs for homeless women and children in Baltimore. I am the recipient of the Delta Dental Student Leadership Award and the Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Periodontics. I was nationally recognized as a featured student in the ADEA – Official Guide to Dental Schools.
A life-long learner, I was awarded my Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry—an honor bestowed on less than 6% of general dentists for accruing over 500 hours of continuing education. I believe that all patients should be treated comprehensively and have focused my skill set on providing an array of additional advanced treatment options including Invisalign clear aligner therapy, oral conscious sedation, Botox cosmetic and therapeutic treatments, and dental implants. I am most excited to compliment Dr. Zechmann’s excellent understanding of dental sleep medicine and comprehensive care.
I am the proud mom of my son, Fletcher, and daughter, Reagan. In my free time, I love being active, cooking, watching Steelers games, and spending time with my children. I am beyond excited to practice with the River Landing Dentistry team!
